The Basics

Why did RWB create an app?

Many of our organizers, volunteers, and online community members have told us they needed a single place to go to access all of our programs, tools, and resources. The RWB app brings everything together in one convenient and easy to use place.

What can I do with the app?

The RWB App lets you:

  • Find upcoming events
  • Connect with our online community
  • Watch training videos, access guides, and explainers
  • Use Rally to help your friends vote and track your impact
  • Get updates about volunteer opportunities and ways to get involved.
  • Share powerful content on social media, and so much more!

Will it cost anything to use the RWB app?

Nope! The RWB app is completely free to download and use.

Do I have to leave Facebook to stay involved?

No, the app just gives you even more ways to connect and stay up to date without being overwhelmed by the never ending firehose of news.

What’s happening to SWEEP?

SWEEP is moving into the app! Same people, same energy—just in a new space called RWB Coast-to-Coast. It will be the same amazing people and engaging conversations, just in a new, more private space.

How can I invite my friends to join the app?

To invite your friends, tap the menu icon (the three lines on the bottom right), then tap Invite. You’ll be able to send them a direct invite link via text, email, or any app you use to chat.

This community grows by word of mouth, one trusted invite at a time. If you’ve got friends who care about making change—they belong here, too.

What’s happening to my RWB state Facebook group?

State groups for Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia will remain on Facebook for now. We will definitely let you know if that will change at some point in the future.

How do I message someone in the app or have group chats?

Want to message someone—or start a group chat? Here’s how:

  • Tap on the profile of the person you want to message.

  • Tap the “Connect” button to send a request.
You won’t be able to message them until they accept.

  • Once they accept, go to your Messages and tap the chat bubble that says “Message.”

  • Type your message and hit send!

To start a group chat:

  • First, send connection requests to everyone you want to include.

  • Once they’ve accepted, go to your Messages and tap the circle with the plus sign to start a new chat.

  • Add your connected members into the group chat.

Warning: Once a group chat is created, you cannot add or remove people at this time.
If you need to leave the chat, tap the three dots in the upper-right corner and select “Exit Conversation.”
You can also tap the three dots to view the members of the chat.

Need help or have a question? You can connect and message admins Sarah Kester or Lisa Reese the same way.

Technical Questions

Is the App safe/secure?

Yes, the RWB app uses best practices and security features to keep your information safe. And we respect your right to privacy and will never share your information without your consent. Here’s a link to our Privacy Policy if you want even more details. We’ve partnered with Disciple, a platform trusted by hundreds of mission-driven organizations, to make sure our community stays safe, secure, and completely in our control.

Will the app work on my phone?

The app works on most iPhones and Android devices.
You can also access it on tablets or through app.redwine.blue on your computer.

Can I log in using Facebook?

No. One of the reasons we created the RWB app is to break free from platforms like Meta.

Can I login to Rally from here?

Yes, you’ll be able to easily get into your existing Rally account and stay logged in for quick access. Make sure you’re using the same email address that you use for Red Wine & Blue events and Rally.

How do I update the app to the latest version?

The app usually updates automatically. If yours isn’t, go to the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android), search “Red Wine and Blue,” and tap Update.

Privacy & Security

Who can see my profile or posts?

Your profile is visible to other members of the Red Wine & Blue app community. It shows your name, photo, bio, and any badges you’ve earned.

Your posts are visible to members of the group you post in—so if you post in a public group like Coast to Coast, everyone in that space can see it. If you post in a private or state-based group, it’s only visible to members of that group.

Does the app track or store my location?

Nope. The app does not track or store your GPS location.

You can tell us your state to help connect you to the right group, but we never use GPS or collect any real-time location data. Your privacy is a priority.

Can I post anonymously or under a display name?

Not fully anonymously. Your username, first name, state, and bio are visible to other members in the app.

We encourage members to use their real name as their username—it helps build trust within our private community.

Someone is 'following' me, what does that mean?

Just like other social platforms, you can follow people, and people can follow you. Following someone lets you see more of their posts in your feed—and if they follow you, they’ll see more of yours.

Don’t want followers?
There’s no toggle in the app just yet, but we can turn that off for you!
Just email us at app@redwine.blue, and we’ll take care of it.

Will there be moderators in the app like there are on Facebook?

Yes! Our trained moderators will be active in the app to help keep the community safe, welcoming and aligned with our values.  They will have “badges” in their app profile that make them easy to identify. If you’re in SWEEP, you may even recognize them! (like Moderator, Tech Support, Community Manager) and are here to keep things welcoming and safe.

Troubleshooting

Do you have Community Guidelines? How do I report something concerning?

Yes, we have community guidelines—and we take them seriously. You can [read the full guidelines here]. In short: lead with curiosity, treat others with respect, and help us keep this space safe, welcoming, and rooted in our shared values.

If you come across content or behavior that feels harmful, inappropriate, or just off, please report it. But first, if it seems like something might just be a misunderstanding, take a moment to re-read or ask a clarifying question. We all come from different backgrounds and perspectives.

To report:

  • Tap the three dots (…) on the post, comment, or profile

  • Select Report and describe what’s going on—there are no pre-set options, so you can explain in your own words

Our team reviews every report as quickly as possible. While not every report results in removal, each one helps us maintain a respectful and supportive community for everyone.

Can I edit or delete my post after I’ve shared it?

Yes. To edit or delete a post you made:

  • Tap the three dots (…) on your post
  • Choose Edit or Delete

How do I reset my password?

On the login screen, tap Forgot password? and follow the steps to reset it.

  • Select Push notification settings and make sure:
    • Enable push notifications is turned ON
    • Specific alerts like New messages, Mentions, and Comments are also toggled ON
