Katie Paris, leader of Red Wine and Blue, a Democratic group that targets suburban women, said the failure to get an abortion-rights measure on the ballot this year hurt the Democrats this year.
Meanwhile, voters overwhelmingly approved one in neighboring Michigan while voters in nearby Kentucky defeated an anti-abortion measure.
“The number-one thing I heard across Ohio for the past few months was why don’t we have a ballot initiative,” Paris said. “I think that’s the biggest lesson we can take for 2024.”
