Public Comments on the MATS rollback:

The Mercury and Air Toxics Standards protect our communities from dangerous pollutants like mercury, arsenic and lead that spew out of coal-fired power plants and end up in our air, water, soil and food. And the Carbon Pollution Standards protect our communities and the planet from the harms of climate change. The EPA is trying to roll back these standards which will cause exponential increases on these dangerous pollutants.

CORRECTION FROM CHRIS EDWARDS: During the Q&A portion of Climate Change 101, I was asked about the IPCC report. In my answer, I said that the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) report lays out targets for countries to work to meet. In reality, the IPCC report provides scientific-based information to policymakers, but it does not include targets. Those targets are set under agreements like the Paris Agreement by individual countries and updated at meetings like COP29 (Conference of the Parties), held annually. I regret the error.

Though I obviously have some issues with his opinion, his words do an uncomfortable amount of resonating, leaving me more in agreement with him than I’d like to be. Just FYI.
